Model in Westfield, Massachusetts showcases contemporary interior design options
Northeastern's model log home in Westfield, Massachusetts showcases a spectrum of design ideas for anyone considering a traditional log home that has a touch of elegance.
The model was designed to be real eye opener for those who are thinking about building a log home and want to see the décor, color schemes, and wall and window treatment options that are compatible with the contemporary log home.
While the architecture and overall theme is traditional, Northeastern worked with Interior Design firm J/Brice Design International to create an element of surprise when visitors crossed the threshold. There are bold patterns, a variety of textures, contemporary flooring materials, high-end kitchen cabinets, granite countertops and low voltage lighting on display. The model gives consumers an opportunity to see how various colors and patterns can be incorporated with natural wood to enhance their own dream home plans. Example - some of the beams are finished with a light forest green wash to demonstrate how contrasting color can add emphasis and punch.
Typical comments are, "I thought log homes were dark, this is bright and cheerful" or, "I was expecting Colonial furniture and rag rugs. This is different!"
"Overwhelmingly, log home buyers are looking for architecture that integrates the roots of traditional log design with spaciousness and convenience," explains Gary Jordan from Northeastern, "Part of our goal was to design a home is as livable for a family of four as it would for a couple. It was to be a dream house, but could not exceed the average cost of new homes in the area." This model features first floor master bedroom suite with bath and walk-in closet, a shed dormer in the rear for a spacious second level, breezeway-mud room and two-car garage.
While the farmer front porch and dormers are out of the past, Andersen Frenchwood Doors and a rear deck are designed for easy maintenance and contemporary living. Similarly, low-e, energy-efficient Andersen Windows that tilt for cleaning and six-panel interior JELD-WEN® Morgan® Collection doors are identical to those premium frame homebuyers demand.
In addition to this model in Westfield, Northeastern has fully-staffed model homes in Groton, Vermont; York, Maine, and Louisville, Kentucky. There is a showroom and factory in Kenduskeag, just outside Bangor, Maine. Contact any model home or office to arrange a factory tour.
