Accomodating a range of decor options

Natalie chose Northeastern Log Homes for many reasons, not the least of which is the eastern white pine used in all the structural elements, logs and interior walls, which is clearer and smoother than many competitors.

She had the steel truss plates that fasten the beams together painted a neutral color to blend in with the wood tones. She also liked the D-shaped log for having the charm of a log home without being too rustic. Our 19th century Hepplewhite sideboard with wing back chairs work perfectly with the Windsor bench and country pieces," adds Natalie. The quality of Northeastern's materials not only enhances beauty, but figures into practical matters as well. Building a home with so much glass in Vermont's colder climes initially raised concerns over comfort and energy efficiency. "My family and I have been here at all times of the year. There are never any drafts in the winter and the home stays cool in the summer without air conditioning," notes Natalie who shuttles between homes in Georgia and the Green Mountain State and visits to children and grandchildren in Seattle.

To assure consistent high quality, Northeastern specifies Andersen 400 Series Tilt-Wash Windows and Frenchwood doors throughout all of its Premier series models. Michael Cassidy of Northeastern's Groton, Vermont office and Model Home worked with Natalie on her home project. He emphasizes, "We also specify Schlage Lockets, Owens Corning Roofing materials and six-panel interior pine doors by Morgan. All great names, but when we mention Andersen, most people respond by saying, "If you use Andersen then the quality of everything else must be premium."

Cassidy, who joined Northeastern nearly three decades ago, points out, "Most people use an existing model as a jumping off point. The Regal has two guestrooms and bath on one side, the master bedroom suite with its own full bath on the other, while the gathering area is in the center. This gives guests and their hosts a lot of privacy, and the prow front is great for taking in the views. It's everything anyone could want in a charming, single-story vacation home, especially in my native state."
